Chapter Four Vote

Chapter 4 Vote

Once again both Groups did a great job in their outline. Both groups began their outlines with the same quote from the book and proceed to explain it. We believe that this was a good addition to the outline because we’re sure that when most people begin reading the chapters, they skip the quote or do not find its significance to the text. We found that Group B explains the importance of the quote more understandably than Group A.

After informing us on the people included in the MPA, the Group provides us with information on piracy from the chapter. This information allows the reader to see that there is a real problem with the idea behind the "bootleg." We also liked the idea that Group B asked questions and proceeded to answer them, this makes it more comprehensible. For example, "Why is it harder to capture pirates at the moment of production?”

Overall, Group B gave a clearer outline of the text within Chapter Four. The layout of the outline made it easy to follow (with the use of page numbers, bullets and numbers). The outline done by Group B was presented in an organized and detailed manner; and they information given highlighted the key elements of the chapter. This is why our vote is for
Group B.

Chapter Three Vote

Chapter 3 Vote

Both groups did an excellent job in outlining Chapter 3. Group A began with an overview of "Co-Producing Hollywood". Group B gave different information but was much less detailed than Group A. Both groups gave great descriptions and outlines of the majority of the information - such as in "Treaty Co-Productions and Hollywood" and "Cultures of Cash". We found it very relevant that Group B added more information regarding the martket of films (within the "PRC" article and "Asterix vs. Hollywood"). Both groups gave similar important information such as the statistics regarding the revenue of films when they appear on "free television or pay television". Also, both of the groups mention the 1996 Telecommunications Act, which is important because of its impact on the media industry.

Group B wrapped up their information with an effective, simple conclusion that ties up the outlinined information well. Overall, Group A gave more detailed points with more relevant information with regards to the media companies. Therefore, our vote is for Group A.

Chapter Two Vote

Chapter 2 Vote

Both groups did an excellent job in outlining Chapter 2. Group A begins their outline with much more in depth details and analysis of the information, as compared to Group B. Group A covers more of the ideas regarding Hollywood's labour systems. Group B approaches the information differently. While Group A discussed the information about how these labour systems work, Group B gives a general overview of different terms and theories. Group A gave more clear evidence from the Adopted Resolutions section. Both groups did well at outlining the information discussed with Runaway Production. It was helpful that Group B included the Hollywood screen unions (SAG, AFTRA, WGA, DGA etc) because many of these groups are still mentioned in the media today. In outlining the Lead Players in the NICL - both groups did an excellent job, each with outlining each countries involvement. Group B also included East Asia, which Group A did not.

Group B gave more "to the point" details that were easy to understand while Group A, who did a very good job with giving a lot of details, would have been better at narrowing some of the information down. Overall Group B had an outline that was easier to understand with important, direct details. Our vote is for
Group B.
